hiatus

Image
I've been on a hiatus from the blog for almost a month for a lot of reasons, so it felt appropriate to post about Mumford & Sons ending their hiatus with Wilder Minds coming out in May. I am screaming inside. SO. EXCITED. An oldie, but a goodie. Sitting on anticipation!

I'm one of those I may regret it later, but I'd probably regret it more if I didn't try it, kinda girls--that is why I LOVE this. And I love Neil Gaiman.  Today's going to be a busy Friday: meeting with county library directors, hair appointment and dropping off  my car for an oil change on my lunch break, and so much Summer Reading '14 stuff to tackle. Prairie Dawn and I had our first big pow-wow yesterday, so today I'll be finalizing events on our June and July calendars, setting up our Touch-a-Truck and Summer Reading Kick-Off event, and counting down the minutes until I leave for Chicago!! And since every road trip (mini ones included) needs good music, I'll share this slice of awesome--a new take on an old favorite of mine. Happy weekend!

Mumford Monday: Mumford & Sons - After the storm

freaking amazing

I want to start my Monday with this energy. Mumford & Sons - I Will Wait

combining two of my all time favorites

Image
No, not Ryan Gosling and bacon...Mumford and Sons and Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer," one of my all time favorite S&G songs. I have such a lovely memory of sitting on a train bound for NYC, watching the sunrise, and listening to "The Boxer." *Sigh* I miss living in New England and the proximity of NYC... No,

eagerly anticipated

...at least as far as I've been concerned! Mumford & Son's new album "Babel," will be out in the States September 24th. Click here for "I Will Wait," from the new album. Enjoy! And yes, more library posts or reviews or both soon. Did I mention I might be getting a kitten? That feels adultish and more permanent...doesn't it?

slipping back

into Mumford & Sons again...just read that their second album--a follow up to Sigh No More--will be out in the U.S. in September. Can't wait! Went out for breakfast with Amos and the restaurant was playing Mumford and all was good: catching up, good music, good food. I love being at the Farm.

Mumford & Sons "To Darkness" I am sliding back into my Mumford & Sons phase. I need some new music, boys, and I have to wait until May for the new album? You're killing me!

Ok ok, I'm obsessed with Mumford (at least that's what RugbyGirl says), but I just had to share their Bookshop Sessions! I love how raw Marcus' voice is...*sigh* I can't wait until their 2nd album comes out later this year!! Also, I wanted to shout out a HAPPY 34th BIRTHDAY to my brother A2 ! And I wanted to welcome Choco , a new follower! I am traveling to the Virgin Islands today and will be gone until Sunday, so I will just post some videos/poems until I get back. See you next week! Mumford &Sons - White Blank Page (Bookshop Sessions)

lake loons love Mumford & Sons

P.S. Also, a shout out and thanks to my latest followers: LaCosta, Sarah Lynn and blondebookworm, and anyone else who I've been remiss in mentioning that is new. Thanks for reading!

"Nothing is written," Mumford and Sons Since they released their first album, "Sigh no more," in 2009, many fans have been eagerly awaiting a second album. That album is due out later this year and until then, I am trying to satisfy my Mumford cravings with these newer songs which aren't yet released, but can be seen on Youtube.

homesick-edness, part of life

Image
Have moved out of my obsession with Mumford & Sons and fallen back in with Ray Lamontagne. Every thing that Ray sings sounds really good these days...or maybe it's just because he is playing at my alma mater tomorrow and I should be there. Maybe it's because I am homesick and Ray's music is definitely something I associate back home with...hmm..

carrying that weight

Last night was supposed to be a night for relaxing, prayer and meditation with some friends who've started a spirituality group; I was looking forward to the down time, but happened instead to be in the right (or wrong?) place at the right (wrong?) time. A coworker accidentally put her hand through a pane of glass in the kitchen while a few of us were hanging around talking. In the span of seconds, which seemed to move so slowly, we realized that our friends arm warranted a trip to the ER so, after applying pressure and wrapping arm with towels, Sierra and I and I took Elo to the ER. The night, which didn't go as I planned, was actually exactly what I needed. The time was spent being present to a friend, which forced me to forget about things which had previously seemed important--stresses and concerns--and gain the same sense of calm to be there for her. During the drive into town, and through sitting at the ER--sitting with the uncertainty--we were able to laugh an...
