Lazy Saturday

Saturday was a wonderfully lazy day. Friends CJ, Amos, Becca, TSOldtimer, BigBro, Lil Sis, Mummy Dearest and I all walked the 3 mile loop that goes around the farm property. It was a nice to admire nature and talk. Summer was so alive, bursting forth in greens and exposive flowers in shades of cream, fire orange, cranberry red, purples, and the fragrance was thick, hanging onto everything and begging to be noticed. I felt like singing out, "NATURE!!!" like Will Ferrell in that Robert Goulet skit, but I decided against it.

Later that afternoon Mummy Dearest and I ran errands. Such a simple thing to be doing. I had to stop and remind myself that I am on vacation and that it wasn't just an ordinary Saturday...sigh. While BigBro was napping, Lil Sis and I spent some time bonding on the porch, watching a badmitton game progress into a volleyball game. Mummy came out and kept us company, and we all enjoyed the wonderful afternoon sun.

That afternoon Mummy, Hubby, and I listened to some bootylicious music that I brought with me, and prepared a culinary feast. A dish that was introduced to them by Hubby's sis and bro-in-law, though the name of the dish evades me. A black bean, rice, and pepperoni dish (stir in lots of parsley), served on corn chips with bananas and orange slices. Delicious!

We ate dinner on the screened in porch, the three of us and TSOldtimer, joined later by Amos, CJ, and Becca. We washed down the meal with bottles of different flavored funky pop: Virgil's Root Beer, (which-I just found out-is sold in MI.!) mango pop, and Ginger Beer. (Yes, we say pop in MI. not soda!) All drinks that I associate with farm living, since I had never heard of any of these things before I moved out East.

We ate Jelly Slugs and Bertie Bott's Every flavor beans for dessert and laughed over the grody flavors jelly bean flavors that we each got, which include: Black Pepper, Blueberry, Booger, Buttered Popcorn, Dirt, Earthworm, Ear Wax, Grape, Grass, Green Apple, Lemon Drop, Sardine, Sizzling Cinnamon, Soap, Bacon, Rotten Egg, Toasted Marshmallow, Tutti-Fruitti, Very Cherry, & Vomit. Kids at heart.

That night we all hung out at Mummy and Hubby's house once the chitlins had gone to bed. I was sad to see my visit coming to an end and so unready to go home; to once again say goodbye to my friends. But it was back to the city the next morning...very early...

Sounds like a great time! Jelly Slugs? That's awesome. And here in FL, it is infact, soda. I am ashamed to say I have been roped into saying Soda as well. So ashamed...
You should be ashamed...say it loud and say it proud..."POP!" I remember some of the looks when I said it out East for the first time not realizing they said "Soda." Oh, those lofty New Englanders... :)
