April Fools pranks

Image
This is what my naughty staff did to me on April Fool's Day. This was the funny bit...the sharp toothed, terrifying clown pictures that they taped EVERYWHERE in my office was mean. JUST MEAN.

be disturbed with me

I need to blog about library stuff and life and library stuff. So much to catch up on. Been tilting between busy and exhausted to moody Judy, so probably best I do the Thumper's Mom's thing and not say anything until I can say something nice. Until then, please, be disturbed with me.

nobody's freaking out...yet

Prairie Dawn and I have been hard at work this week, planning Summer Reading 2014. Schedules: We've decided to keep our schedule similar to last year, adding a few more programs, some of which are passive , which will definitely help us out--we're doing over 70 programs in 6 weeks...something we're both proud of and terrified of. Don't panic--it's just a schedule...it's just a schedule and there are throngs of children thrown into the mix!! Speaking of scheduling, I was trying not to freak out earlier when I got vacation requests for folks during two of the craziest weeks of Summer Reading...my philosophy is always, "we'll make it work." And we will...I may just be at the desk A LOT those two weeks.  Prizes: we ordered our prizes on Amazon. From babies to adults, every time a goal is met, or every time a program is attended folks get a ticket; drawings for prizes happen at the end of the SR program and ONLY people who've finished Summ...

Oh, how I love the ridiculous things people post on my FB wall. I love the internet.

my Saturday in pictures

Image
My favorite tree on my street--snow covered and enormous! The snowman I built outside the Library, he's ready for Santa's visit! I decided to hit up Grumpy's house and give him yuletide cheer in the form of a snow penguin (against his wishes) The text message convo after the gift was unveiled--MEN! Can they ever just say, "WONDERFUL!?" ;) Snowed all last night and today, giving us about 5 inches, and though I had to work today I still got to: go for a walk, make a snowman for Sticks Library, make a snow penguin for Grumpy, guzzle hot chocolate, and take a ridiculously hot shower. Life is good. Saturdays are wonderful.

Friday fun

Thanks TSO for the BEST. BELATED. CARD. EVER--a homemade pop-up turkey AND Ryan Gosling inside my Thanksgiving card. I LOVE IT!!

I mustache you not to shave it for later

Image
Best $1 I ever spent--I bought a pack of fake mustaches and left them for the kids when I left A3's house yesterday; I just asked that the kids take a picture together wearing them and someone text me the photo, as I headed out to Chicago. This is by far the best one! That's my Mom with my 5 nieces and nephews, and my sis, A1. Happy almost weekend for those of you working, as for me? I think I'm headed into the city while Chicago Boy's at work!

Bob Ross'ing through Monday

Mondays are rough after good weekends, aren't they? Well. any mistakes I make today, yeah, I'm turning them into birds!

when zombies attack the library

Image
Cockroaches and eyeballs! Our table cloth Spiders and bugs hanging in webs! Best thing on the table: WITCHES FINGERS: pretzels covered in chocolate (dyed green), with almond finger nails. Zombie signage Zombie signage We recently hosted a teen Zombie Prom at the Library; Prairie Dawn had a great time doing "The Creep," with the kids, enjoying snacks, and other gross-out games. Thought I'd share some photos!

so tired...is it the weekend yet?

Image
This is the attitude I've decided to have today. It's either that or I hide under my desk and sleep. Somehow I think the Board would frown upon that.  I'm. So. Tired.

can the weekend hurry up and get here?!

Image
Out of the office all day with a meeting, then I have to go back to the Library late to speak for a local civic group. I know all week I will just be praying for the weekend; 4 day weekend coming up and can't wait!! Friday morning I will be on my way to see this exhibit.

not quite

I was using Google to find an image, my search term was, "Mark Twain holding chickens," (don't ask) and this is what came up...don't even know how or why. This is what I wanted... Today felt a little too Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for me. Can't it be next Thursday?

Pinterest, meet Library

Image
After being at a conference and hearing a fellow librarian sing the praises of Pinterest and how libraries can utilize it to their benefit, I am debating starting a page for Sticks Library. Why I wouldn't do it: another time commitment to social media (we're on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads), why I would? Well, read these awesome articles: "20 Way Libraries are Using Pinterest Right Now" and "More on How to Optimize Pinterest"

can't stop laughing
