Potter and Kibiushi again

Image
Remember a while back when I shared Kazu Kibiushi's artwork on the 15th anniversary Harry Potter book covers? Well, this week while I was putting Kibiushi's graphic novel, Copper, on hold for one of my favorite patrons--a 9 year old who comes in every week, multiple times per week; a voracious reader who loves to talk books with me and Prairie Dawn--I asked her if she'd seen Kibiushi's Harry Potter covers. Oh, the excitement!? She responded with, "WHAT?! NO!!!"I loved that she got as geeked about it as I did when I saw them. It was one of those "I LOVE my job" moments. Anyway, thought I would share a few of the back covers which I happened to stumble upon during in my Kibiushi search. LOVE them. The library's prayers to God

Had a wonderful weekend; celebrated my best friend's birthday with friends Friday night, picnicked with friends on Saturday after their softball tournament, then Saturday night my brother A3 and I went and had dinner with Dad (Mom is in California-I will see her there on Wednesday!) Mmm...dinner was so good. I made dinner for Dad and A3; boiled shrimp and crab, red beans and rice, and steamed broccoli. Kind of a hodge podge of food, but so tasty. Saturday night, my roomie M and I went to her parents' "cottage," (I use this term very loosely since the cottage is a house, probably a little smaller than the house we grew up in) on Lake St. Clair , late. M, her sister JillyBean, K (their niece) all fell asleep watching a boot leg copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on the projector. I was wide awake, ecstatic to be watching the movie blown up on the wall in the living room, especially the scenes in the Ministry of Magic! I only felt slightly guilty watching...

Cinematic bliss among a throng of Potter-ites

Yesterday was a long day...I stayed up all night Monday to finish my Collection Development plan, managing, to spend nearly all of my $5,000 dollars, though I was not able to find reviews for all of the materials that I wanted to add to my collection. Making collection choices without reviews to back up the decision makes it seem as though you were just choosing resources to choose them, so I am hoping he grades mercifully! I finally finished my project at around 6:30am, went home and made my roomie breakfast, laid down for a 15 minute nap, then got back up for work. Yesterday was a long day at work and in class. I had prepurchased my tickets for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (this link is for an interesting review) and that was all I could think about all day. It is amazing-I was so tired all day, but by the time that we got to the movie theater around 11pm, for the 12:01a.m. showing, I was wide awake. What an experience! I didn't join the Potter bandwagon until after...
