homeward bound

I am heading to Michigan again today after work, for a summer party, but really just a grasping chance at trying to see someone whom I'm sure won't even be in town for the weekend anyway. Life really is a maneuvering game, no? I am riding up with a friend, her boyfriend, and another one of her friends; feeling in a funk and nostalgic and so glad that I packed Sedaris' Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and a full iPod o' music--I can either giggle to myself or fall asleep to my nostalgic mix. Think the nostalgia is because today is my bro A2's birthday--HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Brother! I love you--and August also marks my Dad's birthday...*sigh* I miss him so. So, as I think back on our time in Michigan and shoot north, I will listen to this, one of my favorite Simon & Garfunkel songs: Homeward Bound . Happy weekend all!

sent to the brink

Ok ok, I'm obsessed with Mumford (at least that's what RugbyGirl says), but I just had to share their Bookshop Sessions! I love how raw Marcus' voice is...*sigh* I can't wait until their 2nd album comes out later this year!! Also, I wanted to shout out a HAPPY 34th BIRTHDAY to my brother A2 ! And I wanted to welcome Choco , a new follower! I am traveling to the Virgin Islands today and will be gone until Sunday, so I will just post some videos/poems until I get back. See you next week! phew--thoughts on another year

Image
So, here we sit on the cusp of another year. I am still planning on taking a road trip out to Massachusetts to the farm, though that nearly didn't happen. I asked my wonderful mechanic bro A3 to change my oil and flush my transmission for me and upon doing these things he found a few EXPENSIVE other things that needed tending. And being the Boy Wonder that he is, he is fixing everything and footing the bill for my Christmas/Graduation present. He is awesome. However due to the holidays and part stores being closed, my on order parts won't be in until after the 3rd, so no driving to Buffalo to meet up with B1&B2... So, I checked Amtrak and found that the train I needed to get there is sold out already...and so what did this young traveler decide on. *Cringe* That is right, I am taking a good old Greyhound to Buffalo to meet up with B1&B2 and then continue on to the farm in their car. Now don't get me wrong. I love traveling and I will do it any way possible and somet...

Pics from a doting aunt

Since I don't have any kids to brag about, like Mummy Dearest's adorable rug rats, I will do the next best thing. I am posting pics of my niece Gala (who is nearly 2 1/2) and my nephew Noah (who will be 8 mos. soon!), who live in Cali with my Bro and sister-in-law. Gala looks a little like I did when I was her age, though my hair wasn't quite that curly, and Noah looks like my brother Adam did when he was little. It is amazing how different they look from my sister and brother-in-law's fair skinned, blondies, Syd and Aidan. They definitely got a lot of Lucia's Mediterranean tones (She is from Spain). This is me doting...dote dote dote!
